Primo
2018 - Grade- 13.2hh - 850# - Gelding

This is Primo. Primos stands right between 13.2hh/13.3hh on concrete with a level and is 7yrs old. Primo has been ridden and used outside for daily ranch chores such as to gather and sort. No half-day-horse business here, he’ll keep up with the best of them no matter the length of day. He’s surefooted, keeps a good working walk or trot when you want him to on a loose rein, has no qualms about bulldozing through some brush, and is lots of fun to just go on. He has never roped anything out in the pasture but has had a rope swung off of him. He’s been ridden in the arena and down the trails as well, has even toted around disabled adults before, and is honestly a broke little pony. He’s no reiner but he catches both leads, has a good mouth on him, starting to want to ride collected, stepping around himself nice and neat, happy medium between woah and go as he’ll go whatever pace you want him to, breaks down nice and smooth at all gaits, good woah… all of the stuff that everyone loves. He’s never once humped up, reared, ran off, or anything of the sort even with time off. I’ve climbed on him weeks fresh bareback in a halter and he rode right off. The riding videos on his playlist are uncut, raw, and him a week fresh. He’s a solid, solid guy on his back.
But (obviously there was gonna be a but, it’s a project pony post), he didn’t come from a great situation initially and needs someone that’ll give him some time doing groundwork stuff for a month or two and you’ll have one of the coolest ponies around. Sometimes when you saddle him you’ll think he’s never seen a pad and then he stands like a statue. He’s fast to test you on some stuff because he thinks he’s smarter. He’ll call your bluff on “scary” stuff at first, act like it’s gonna eat him, and then acts like he’s seen it a thousand times all in the same 30 seconds. We’ve tarped and flagged him numerous times and although he doesn’t love either one, he’ll tolerate it but typically acts like it’s the first time every time at the beginning. Manmade objects are just not really his thing at first. He’s incredibly smart and truly wants to be someone’s friend, but his last home just kind of fried him (will absolutely give detail to any interested parties) and he needs to be with someone that’ll take the time with him to basically reintroduce him to some stuff.
We are listing Primo for a very close friend of ours. They purchased Primo a couple months back hoping to make him into what he can be, but they have found out their having their first child and also are moving in the next month which means plans have changed and Primo needs someone that has the time they now lack. If I had an open spot for a longer term project, he’d stay because he’s a ton of fun to use and ride and he really will be a super cool product at the end of it all.
Primo is sound and barefoot. He does have small matching scars on the back of his front legs that are purely cosmetic that I would assume was from a rope or wire fence and one on the front of his RF (see in pictures). PPEs welcome at buyers expense. He’ll ground tie for you to trim all four of his feet. He loads and unloads with no issues. He bathes without issue. He isn’t always easy to catch, but again, quick to call your bluff and sometimes you can walk right up to him in the pasture. You could ride him and use him as he sits with no issues if you ignore all the little quirks if you need a smaller, good using stick that can go the miles OR you can approach him as a project, fix the quirks, and double your money at Christmas OR work with him and have a super neat pony at the end to call your own. The choice is yours.
Primo is available privately for $6000 obo . No trades.
