“Hickory” is an 11 year old, 14hh, 970lbs gelding that is a son of the great Bet Hesa Cat and out of a Peppy San Badger/Docs Hickory bred mare. This gelding was purchased a year ago from an individual by a client of ours that lives near the coast here in Texas. Although Hickory has been an asset on his ranch, he has decided that he would just like a horse a little bit taller than Hickory to do his ranch work with.

 

The gelding has been used for all aspects of ranch work from the Red River to the coast of Texas and is a finished ranch horse. Hickory is stout to the horn for his size and has been used to help start several colts in the round pen. Not only is he useful on the ranch, but he is versatile in the arena as well. Hickory has been both headed and heeled on some, has some patterning on the barrels, and has been used as a turnback horse at several big NCHA cuttings. He’ll happily walk/trot/lope on 6ft of bridle rein without ever getting speedy. All around versatile and user friendly gelding that's a handy size and useful to have around! He is 100% sound with no previous lameness or health issues. Hickory will have an extremely spot in his left eye. If you're not looking for it up close, you'll never notice it and it does not affect him in any way.
